A Vision Through Translation

Why I Became a Food Director and Photographer

Like many, the pandemic made me more introspective than I’ve been in a long time. Embracing the moment, allowed me to embark on a personal project to capture the story of what being an artist means to me.

At the suggestion of my agent Heather Elder, I began working with her team to create a “vision statement” and ultimately an immersive story intertwined with links inviting the viewer to experience my work as I do.

Our process involved retracing my life experiences in order to capture the spirit of my brand. We explored the important moments in my life that have shaped my beliefs and values as a person and an artist.

We began exploring big questions like: Why do I love the subject of food so much? Why does motion capture feel like such a natural fit? How did I get to commercial advertising from the world of technology?  And, how do all of these experiences affect the environment I create on set in order to create the imagery I do for my clients?

Ultimately, it became clear that mine is a vision through translation.

I am so pleased to share this.

Simply put, this vision statement is for you to better know who I am and why I create what I create. I want you to understand what influences my thinking and inspires my choices. I want you to know what I’m curious about, what makes me happy and how I think about the world and my place in it.

Mostly though, I want you to understand me so you can easily imagine what we can create together.
