“The thing you need most in iceberg-infested waters is fear,” says Marvin Kean, who captains a 725-foot-long ship that hauls supplies and machinery up the Labrador coast to remote nickel mines in the Canadian Arctic. Without that trepidation, he says, “you’ll end up like the Titanic.”
